Virtual Flex Courses

SCASD offers a small selection of courses that are normally assigned to a student’s schedule during the school year to be taken over the summer, or during the school year if they are already enrolled in 8 credits on their high school schedule, for a nominal fee.

**If a student enrolls in a Virtual Flex summer course, it does not guarantee they will be given preferred electives or additional electives at State High or Delta during the school year. 

These courses include:

  • Driver Safety (.25 credit, $157.50)
  • Health/Wellness (.5 credit, $315)
    • Incoming 9th graders: Wellness 9
    • 10th-12th graders: Wellness for life
  • Language of Medicine (.5 credit, $315)
  • Personal Finance (.5 credit, $315)
    • 11th & 12th graders
  • Physical Education (.5 credit, $315)
    • Incoming 9th graders: PE 9
    • 10th-12th graders: Select PE 1 or 2
      • If select PE 1 is already completed, take PE 2

Format

Students who take these courses will move through them at their own pace with the understanding of the deadlines for completion. SCASD teachers will oversee a student’s progress throughout the course and will be available to answer any questions and meet with the students. The Physical Education courses also require a physical activity component.

Course Success

Success in these virtual courses will be highly dependent on a student’s motivation, ability to learn independently, and time management skills. Students who struggle in these areas should consider taking the course in the traditional setting.

 

Registration

Registration for flex courses is online and payment can be made with a MasterCard or a Visa credit card.  To begin registration, click the Register and Pay Now. 

Registration opens at 8 a.m. on January 29, 2026 and closes at 8 a.m. on March 20, 2026.

 

Cancellations

All cancellations require a completed/signed Cancellation Form.   Cancellation Forms are available at the Counseling Offices or through the link above. To receive a refund, this form should be emailed to the Virtual Academy  within two weeks from the start of the virtual session (see the cancellation deadline dates above). Refunds are subject to a $15 processing fee.
